Step 4 – Made a searching and fearless moral inventory of ourselves.
Christina’s version – We made a list to examine our past actions and patterns with honesty and courage
Personalize it – I made a list to take an honest and courageous look at my past actions and patterns.
Step 4 Words to Live By – It’s about deeply reflecting on who we are, recognizing patterns in our behavior, and being willing to face the truth—no matter how uncomfortable it may be.
Step 4 Concepts
- The Power of Self-Reflection – A personal inventory, no matter the format, must be thorough and honest. By listing past experiences, we gain clarity on how resentments, fears, and unhealthy habits have shaped our lives—and how they continue to affect our well-being.
- Facing Hard Truths – True healing requires more than acknowledgment; it demands self-examination. Recognizing the ways we’ve been hurt, hurt ourselves and harms we’ve caused others, helps us step out of victimhood and take responsibility for our growth. This work leads to greater self-respect and a better understanding of how to navigate relationships and challenges.
The past doesn’t need to be erased, but understood, so we can make better choices moving forward. Sometimes, the hardest truths are the ones that set us free.
