Step 3 – Made a decision to turn our will and our lives over to the care of God as we understood Him.
Christina’s Version – Decided to quit trying to be the boss and rely on a higher power instead.
Personalizing it – I make a commitment to get through the steps and learn how not to live by self-will.
Step 3 Commitment – I will get through the steps and live a life of discipline to the best of my ability. I state this commitment without reservation.
Step 3 Concepts
- Surrendering or offering myself to my understanding of a higher power.
- Being relieved of self-will (“the quality of obstinately doing what one wants in spite of the wishes or orders of others.”).
- Victory over my life difficulties so I can be helpful to the still suffering compulsive eater.
Please write your own version of the Step 3 Prayer. I encourage you to start saying it daily or any time your motivation starts to fade.
Next, we are launching into Step 4. Get a pen and a notebook or some Step 4 resentment sheets.
